About Me

Hi, Welcome to Edu2success.

My name is Jodie and I ‘m a STEM academic advisor & science educator living in Brooklyn, NY.
I always gravitated to science at a young age. My high school chemistry teacher influenced me to major in the sciences. I became a Chemistry major in college and wanted to be a doctor like all the other students in my class. As I progressed in my studies, I realized becoming a doctor wasn’t a right fit for me. I started conducting scientific research with my professor. This is where my true passion was conducting experiments and gathering data. It was awesome that you could get paid to do research too.

I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to do in my career. I started tutoring science students to and eventually became a high school Chemistry teacher. I liked working with students and informing them of different opportunities in STEM careers. During my summers off, I was able to get back to the lab to conduct some biochemical research.

As I navigated through different jobs, I realized there wasn’t a lot of underrepresented individuals in the science field. I didn’t see anyone that looked like me – An African American woman. I always wondered why there was a lack of diversity in STEM majors. My master’s thesis focused on that very topic. I researched on the impact of science enrichment programs in an informal and formal setting with underrepresented high school students. Students who were exposed to hands-on science at an early age were more likely to become a STEM Major. During my encounters, I would inform parents and students about various educational programs to help them.

One parent said, “You are full of information, You should create a website.”

Here it is.

This personal blog will act as a platform to share my passion for assisting science students in their academic careers. It will focus on college planning, study skills, college life and science career exploration. I would like to share science research & educational opportunities to guide you on your career path. I will provide tips on the ins and outs of being a science major.

If you want to be a geneticist or a doctor, computer programmer or any STEM profession, this blog will educate you on the opportunities relating to your major.

Thank you for stopping by!
